Master knife craftsman Chris Peterson from Salina Utah hand forges these beautiful collectors knives from Damascus steel in a technique that he has perfected.  Peterson takes 3 kinds of steel that have different characteristics of flexibility and hardness.  Using a technique very similar to the ancient Japanese samurai techniques, Chris repeatedly heats, hammers, and folds the layers until he has the rough shank and blade with up to 640 alternating thin layers of the carbon steel, mild steel, and tool steel.  This allow for a single piece shank and blade that is both flexible and ultra hard.  Chris hand-grinds this steel piece to perfection. He also hand grinds the handles from bone, antler, horn, or wood.  The many layers can be seen in the beautiful wave-like patterns that  help make each knife a work of art. The custom fitted leather case is also hand made out of quality cow hide.  These knives have his unique Peterson identifying stamp in the blade base and the leather case.  These knives are coveted as collectors items and constantly gain investment value.   Be very careful with these blades as they are the sharpest we have ever inspected.  These knives have never been used or sharpened since they left the Peterson workshop. Fans of this knife claim that three Elk can be dressed between sharpenings.  These knives are available direct from Ana’s Online Store.
